Sydney Carbo is a multifaceted, emerging young soprano.
She received her Masters in Vocal Performance in 2021, as well as a graduate certificate in Vocal Pedagogy in 2022 from the University of Kentucky, where she studied with Metropolitan Opera soprano, Cynthia Lawrence.
Sydney has performed both nationally and internationally, singing a spectrum of genres. She has toured the country with renowned countertenor Terry Barber, playing Cosette in StarBrite Productions’ Les Misérables in Concert, as well as being a featured young artist in their Best of Broadway Tour.
Sydney has also sung at opera festivals in Paris and Italy, studying with Metropolitan Opera soprano Marilyn Mims, studying roles such as Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Marie (Daughter of the Regiment), among others. Outside of the operatic repertoire, Sydney enjoys singing compositions from Debussy, Ricky Ian Gordon, and others.
Sydney has an extensive resumé of oratorio performances, singing as the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Charpentier’s Te Deum, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Bach, Rutter, and Arnesen’s Magnificat, and Handel’s Dixit Dominus.
In 2022, Sydney was a semifinalist for the NATS Artist Awards in NYC, receiving the Louis Nicholas Award.
Other opera credits include Queen of the Night in UKOT’s production of The Magic Flute, and Cercatrice in Miami Lyric Opera’s production of Suor Angelica, as well as the chorus in their production of Cavalleria Rusticana.
